As some of you may know, my life has drastically changed over the past few months – I went from being pregnant to now hanging out with a handsome little three-month old every day. Yes that’s right, I had a baby boy in December and he’s such a wonderful addition to our life and family! He’s even trying to sleep for the better part of the night, I know, lucky us! I admit that it’s been tough to get in front of the computer and tell you guys all about it and get back into the swing of things. But typically when I get in front of the computer the scene looks something like this, and I give up. I’m working hard to get back on track though!
I had a miraculous pregnancy. It was my second pregnancy with my 18-year-old kidney transplant, making it this kidney’s sixth kid to help bring into this world, including me, my two brothers and one sister, my daughter, and now my son! I told my mom thanks again, of course! As far as having lupus and being a very high risk case, I had to go to the doctor a LOT. Although I had zero complications (this is what made it miraculous) I went to the doctor sometimes up to three times a week for ultrasounds, blood work, etc. The frequent doctor visits is what made the pregnancy most difficult, not actually being pregnant! I was so happy on my last doctors visit, but I will say that the nurses, doctors, and technicians were all phenomenal people to get to know over nine months. I’m blessed at 40 (with heath stuff) to have delivered a perfectly healthy human being, for the second time around!
I received mixed messages about getting pregnant again from both medical people and friends and family. I had a lot of faith and stayed positive, and ultimately we left it up to God. I’m glad He agreed to bless us so heavily with this little bundle. He’s such a joy! My daughter is very happy too. With the 13 year age gap I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. As the only child she had a lot of mixed feelings about a new addition, for obvious reasons, as it had only been her and I for all of her life. Now I can’t get her to put her brother down to go do her homework. ♥
I’m so glad to have a boy. It’s great having a girl too, but what’s better than getting the chance to experience both? Now about style…I was always told that boys don’t have as good as a selection of clothes as girls. I’m finding that not to be the case! Girls clothes get the prominent spots in the stores, and the selection may even be a bit larger, but there are some great baby boy pieces in places like Target, and Marshalls, and T.J. Maxx have great designer items like R.L., which has adorable boy clothes. I want to talk about Target again quickly though, they really have cute boy clothes. I picked out a few pieces while pregnant and I’m so glad I did. I’ve had a lot of fun dressing this little baby as he’s gone through three sizes in the past three months – preemie, newborn, and we are almost at the end of 0-3’s. I’m grateful for my friends who had boys before me who are so kind to donate to my Style Stamped baby closet as well!
I’m still adjusting to this new life, but it’s been fun. With a support system and a positive mind I can say this has been a great experience so far. I know I have about 18+ more years to go, but so far so good! 🙂
