I’ve seen quite a number of “New Years” come and go. Having stated that, I’ve brought in many new years in a lot of different settings; church, the club, the streets of NYC, asleep, and sitting on the couch, to name a few. Throughout the years, no matter the physical setting, I always believed that it was the setting of my mind that meant more as the clock struck 12:00 a.m. What would I carry mentally with me over the threshold of one year to the next? What did I learn in the previous year that would help me advance mentally and spiritually going forward? What am I most thankful and grateful for? I don’t think this question has been more prominent for me than this year. Most people don’t know my entire story, but I’ve had a lot of rough years. But there was something different about last year, it was like my lot in life turned for the better. The crazy part is, that as great as 2015 was with no drama, I’m still not relinquished of the remembrance of stress from all the years past. So I confess that mentally my mind was set on embracing the fact that I can actually have more good years during the New Year 2016 celebration (as I sat on the couch). That’s where my mind was mentally this New Year, making a stake to do whatever it takes to hold on to the good, and believe that there is good out there for me just as it is for you. No matter what we’ve been through, there is an infinite supply of good hours, days, weeks, months, and years for all of us. I believe that the more we live, the more we grow, the more we press forward towards the positive we will experience more good years than stressful years. That is the style of my New Year, to live on the positive side of life, embrace all good, and truly believe that 2016 and beyond will be “good”, no….”great!” What’s your style going into 2016?
