The 56th Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, January 26. There was a lot happening on the red carpet as there is with all award shows. What is our fascination with seeing some of the most known celebrities around the world dressed up? I guess it’s kinda like watching Cinderella arrive at the ball; it’s a grand entrance of fabulous. We all sit and dream and ooh and ahh at the glamour that radiates from the ones who bring us entertainment from movies to music. On this night it’s music – The Grammy awards have been around for the past 56 years with the first awards ceremony held on May 4, 1959. Since that time, the award ceremony has been a black tie event featuring the best of the best and the who’s who of designers who display their best work and creations of the season on the carpet! The red carpet is really like a fashion show before the actual show and it can be just as exciting as what happens inside, sometimes even more so.
There were a lot of different looks on the red carpet at the Grammy’s. We saw a lot of fitted dresses and trains (which we love). We categorized a few looks of the night, so here we go!
This year there was a big trend on the red carpet, metallic. We saw this look on a number of celbs including Ciara, Amber Rose, Rita Ora, Taylor Swift and a few others. Ciara was leading the trend…baby bump and all! Amber Rose was looking svelte in her Naeem Khan, sans her tatts and Taylor wowed in a floor length metallic Gucci that was refined but stunning.
The metallic’s were a fabulous look! What better way to shine on the red carpet than to shine…literally in a dress.
Another trend on the musical carpet was nudes and whites, a look that Katy Perry took literally in her Valentino dress that was fresh off the runway. Paris Hilton was bringing her sexy in a white cut out mesh Haus of Milani dress. Her hair and makeup were just as exciting. We want to assume that Skylar’s cut out leather Michael Costello dress looked better in person…
Then we noticed a big jump from metallic and nudes to the bright hues of reds and orange…and Colbie Caillat was front-lining this look with her gorgeous cut out high neck Ezra Santos. Giuliana was also doing some cut out action with the top of her orange dress. Michael Costello was featured again on Tamar, who wore a floor length red gown with minimal jewelry and makeup. We think she wanted the dress to do all the talking!
There were a lot of beautiful dresses in a blue hue…starting with Alicia Keys who showed us that fabulous body of hers in a low-plunging hip-hugging Armani Privé.
We loved the original looks of these three…especially the grillz on Madam Madonna. We saw a few disappointing looks on our love Chrisette Michele this week, but she gained all of her cool points back in this ensemble by Etro. Disney sweetheart Zendaya never disappoints as her stylist Law Roach always puts her in the best. She’s been giving us a little more of a mature look as of late, but its polished and classy for the 17 year old and if she likes it we love it.
The men showed up on the carpet to show out too! The trends for men were velvet and patterned suits!
