Solange has a particular “Style Stamp” that has been cultivated over the past few years and has now become as recognizable as she is. When she does something, its art and nothing less. In November 2013, Solange told the world via her tumblr page that she was adding PUMA’s Woman Lifestyle Creative Consultant to her resume, and today, we see the results of her work. And of course as always, Solange doesn’t disappoint when it comes to her creativity and style as you can see in her “Girls of Blaze” three sneaker collaboration that was released today exclusively at Opening Ceremony New York, Los Angeles, and online.
Solange coordinated with three of her favorite New York designers; Gerlan Jeans, William Okpo, and Hisham Bharoocha to re-design a PUMA sneaker that was first released in 1992. The Disc System on this sneaker is used to bypass shoelaces by rotating a dial that tightens up or loosens wires in the shoe for a custom fit. The lookbook for the collection was shot in New Orleans by Alan Ferguson which features the three sneakers paired with bright colors, retro-mod clothing, and vintage backgrounds. Opening Ceremony’s Emily Manning stated:
“Unsurprisingly, the “Girls of Blaze” lookbook has Solange’s style stamped all over it.”
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
The sneakers sell for $150 each and can be purchased here.
What do you think of Solange’s collaboration with PUMA? Stamp or tramp? We love hearing from you!
