A little known fact about me, I’ve always been a slight sneaker-head. I say slight because I’ve only stood outside in line for the latest pair of street kicks once or twice and got up early to get on the internet the morning of a drop to try my luck just a few times. But I do really dig sneakers. Where I’m from we say sneakers or kicks, and back in the day we would nick-name some of the hottest most popular kicks such as J’s, 1’s, Harlems, and 54-11’s. When I moved out of NY I realized that not everyone calls sneakers sneakers, in the south they call them “tennis shoes”. I never understood why, literally no one I knew played tennis, but that’s what they’re called where I live now in DC and when I lived in NC they called them that too. If you know the answer to this please let me know! 🙂
As I’ve gotten older and the retro styles have come back to haunt and taunt us I find myself feeling like I did as a 9th grader when the newest Jordan’s would drop…thrilled. There are so many choices to choose from! The other difference between now and then is that I have a job and can actually afford a pair or two a few times a year and don’t have to convince my dad to understand why I needed a pair of shoes that cost so much. Lol.
As we enter the Spring and Summer, I’ve rounded up my favorite Style Stamped sneakers for you. I’m excited to enter into this next season (time is flying) and kicks are always more fun in the summer months!
Sneakers are fun to dress up or down. What can you wear them with? The more simple ones, (white converse, low top canvas, or just all white or all black) you can wear with literally anything. For those of you with cool jobs, this is a perfect way to make dress down Friday more fun. Solid colored kicks pair well with a skirt or jeans and button down or a plain dress (long or short) with print or solid. Busy sneakers full of color or print are great with a solid dress or jeans and tee with blazer. Of course any type of running or actual workout gear including sweat suits will work with all sneakers but I think that goes without saying. They are so easy to add into your own style as well!
Another great thing about sneakers is that they will never go out of style. I’ve rounded up a LOT of my favorite ones just for you. Let me know which ones are your faves!
