The bell sleeve is a vintage sleeve style that is full of exaggeration and fun. They have a theatrical and Victorian feel, but when paired with the right pieces they will pull your outfit together giving you a polished look full of depth. All bell sleeves are not flattering as floppy materials (like polyester) don’t make quite the statement as a stiffer cotton does. You want a sleeve worth talking about if you’re going to go bell and the floppy ones just don’t ring as loud. 🙂
I found this unique sweatshirt at Zara. They have it listed as a “Printed T-Shirt with Ruffle Sleeves” but it’s actually more like a lightweight sweatshirt with 3/4 inch white cotton bell sleeves that begin at the elbow. I thought the mix of printed fabric with the exaggerated sleeve was a unique closet addition that’s also perfect for August! This top will take you well into Fall and it’s one that will always be cute. In thinking will I still like this top next year when purchasing, the answer was yes. Yup! It’s Style Stamped.
I paired the top with black shorts, ankle heels, a yellow bag for a touch of color, a long gold necklace and over-sized round sunnies. This is a look for date night, girls night, or any outing where you are planning on having a lot of fun! To carry it into the colder months it will also pair well with skinny jeans or tapered pants.
You can find an array of good-priced bell sleeve tops at stores like Zara. Click the small shirt icons under the polyvore to see some that I found and featured in the photo. There are some very expensive ones in stores as well, but we like to air more on the side of reasonable so we have money left over to do other things! 🙂
Tell us what you think about this style below. Would you try it? We’d love to know! ♥
