The 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards was held last night, January 11th, in Beverly Hills to honor the best in film and television. We were tuned in to see who won! Sike. We really just wanted to see who was wearing what at the first televised red carpet event of the year. Sorry! Not sorry.
I was expecting a shift in trends from last year, but as we saw at several major events in 2014 such as the Grammy’s, metallics are still owning the scene. Hard.
J. Lo was her usual sexy self in a caftan-like metallic Zuhair Murad dress. She looked amazing from her hair to her makeup and jewelry. I like that she showed skin but didn’t look naked (she saved that for the after-party). The dress is doing a lot but it works! And she’s working it. Diane Kruger wore a metallic fave by Emily Wickstead. The fit was perfect on her, very sleek and glamorous. I’m not sure about the choice of clutch, but it doesn’t take away from the look and that’s what matters! The third favorite look comes from someone we love to see transform from her character on Orange is the New Black to the real life person, especially on the red carpet. Uzo Aduba is an amazing actor and she plays her character well, almost as well as she’s wearing this dress by Randi Rahm! The gun-metal metallic sparkles on her and if you look closely you can see the hints of red embroidered throughout the dress. Love this! Oh, and we can not wait until the new season of OITNB comes back on. Hurry please! Last but certainly not least is Miss Reese Witherspoon. This strapless metallic beaded Calvin Klein number is simply gorgeous! And if you think her look looks expensive, that may be because it is – she accessorized her dreamy dress by wearing 1.5 million in Tiffany & Co. jewelry. Did she want to make sure her fashion was on fleek, or nah?
There were quite a few dresses shining on stars:
Let’s go straight from metallic to another popular color on the red carpet…red. There is little to no chill between the two, so let’s see it!
These top four are doing it. If you’ve ever wanted to see a ruby red embellished dress, well here you go. Allison Williams killed the red dress look in her Armani PrivĂ© ruffled layered dress situation. And while we are speaking on trends, it’s clear that the slick-back look is what’s “in” as far as hairstyles go. But I agree; who cares about hair when you have a dress to stunt like this one? Then there was Taylor Schilling from our favorite Netflix series. This Ralph Lauren collection keyhole fit and flare is just…everything. Nothing else to say. Next up Catherine Zeta-Jones, umm…she’s still fly. This Angel Sanchez dress may make her look like the salsa iPhone imoji but she’s still cute! Last but not least, one of our favorite and forever Top Models posing just like a model in Versace. She kinda looks like one of my collector Barbie’s I still have posted up in a box.
Cheers to all of the red dresses seen on the red carpet (yes, we included the “misses” too):
The next big trend was kinda like…no color at all. Whites and nudes were a big thing, some with jeweled embellishments, some without.
There is not much more to say to Kate Beckinsale other than yaaaassss to this dress by Elie Saab Couture. It’s fancy and exciting, just like the look on her face. Hair and clutch, perfection, and you can never go wrong with a top knot. Never! Salma Hayek’s dress could’ve doubled for a modern wedding dress, but it’s still pretty nonetheless. The metallic belt gave it a little street cred but it was kinda washed out by the flower in her hair. But she’s still one of our top four in “no color” in this Alexander McQueen. Emily Blunt was cayute in her criss-cross halter keyhole top white dress by Michael Kors. Not the most original Grecian dress but hey. Kate Hudson was trying to give the people what they want in her Atelier Versace. Get it boo.
Those were the top three trending colors. There were a rainbow of others from yellows to navy blue (one of my favorite colors.) But before anyone else, let’s check out this cutie pie in her custom Armani dress:
Some other best dresses include ladies in shades of blue:
Yellow…
And those we just like.
Who got your style stamp at the Golden Globes? We want to know!
