As I get older the question that often comes up amongst my girlfriends is…what should we do tonight? No one’s first option is a club; been there done that! So when I get an Evite to attend a get together at a fashionable friend’s home, its a no-brainier. One of my friends in fashion, Ryan Jor El, whom I featured on StyleStamped last year, had a function with some of his friends and his wife’s friends this past Saturday. I loved that he had a hashtag associated with the evening function, #SoireeSaturday. Needless to say, it was a fun and intimate event, and a great time with good people. Isn’t that what life is about, having fun with good people?
I had a great time, as I usually do. If I’ve learned anything this year, it’s that life is about having fun and smiling in spite of the lows or your current situation. God is in control anyway, so might as well relax and enjoy the ride, making the most out of any and every occasion. I thought I would try to display all of that in my outfit. I wore a pair of destroyed skinny jeans, a “couture” v-neck tee shirt, a bright multi-colored necklace, and a red blazer, all from Forever 21 (minus the black heels). Of course before I put the outfit on, my sidekick (AKA my 10 year old daughter) told me the red blazer would never match with the necklace. She always knows more than me until I put it on. Then she says…ooooh, that does look good! In this case she said, “I didn’t think that would work mom, but I love the red blazer! I see why you collect them now.” Lol.
Anyway, y’all know I love a good blazer, or whatever it takes to make a good outfit. There are no rules! Whatever looks good, do it while having fun with friends!
