Shifts and Bombers – A Pairing for Fall

Every season calls for one or two items that will flood your fashion timeline making it appear nothing less than essential. This season, the most popular item award goes to the bomber jacket, hands down. Everywhere you turn you’ll find a variation of bomber jacket ranging from H&M to Bergdorf Goodman in all colors, textures, and styles. Originally designed as flight jackets for military pilots, there were multiple styles designed since World War I to keep pilots warm in twill, leather, and silk nylon. Of course, just like most things in fashion, this style did not remain contained within the military. It became a popular style in the streets during the 1970’s in punk rock, reemerged during the early 2000’s in hip-hop, and it’s now back again in full force across all genre’s of fashion. I’m a huge outerwear lover so to have this jacket come back in so many styles and variations is awesome, but what can you wear it with to make it a style of your own? Anything! I recently bombed out a shift dress and it was a great pairing to go from summer to fall.

As the weather gets cooler the bomber jacket is a great layer for early mornings and cool evenings. I purchased this mauve bomber for less than $30 at Forever 21. I’ll keep this in my closet for many seasons to come so the less than $30 price and the awesome color made it a great choice. An above the knee shift dress is of course a wonderful little dress for summer but don’t forget about it in fall. Add it to the list of things you can wear your bomber jacket with. It’s Style Stamped both in sneakers or heels! Of course as it gets cooler add mini boots and tights for warmer options.
